Description:
The Swordsman is probably the toughest tank out there. It has a natural resistance to the Flame Sword skill that other Swordsman can use and it can also hold a shield. Their vitality stat is also fairly high giving them a good amount of HP. Dark Seed and Hex of Darkness forms a good combo skill, but Hex of Darkness on most Shaman is a waste.

Description:
A Viking is very useful in most situations. Its most useful ability is the ability to freeze targets for 3 turns. Some enemies and all bosses later on are immune to freeze, but the freeze still lowers defense and makes the opponent at least waste a turn. The downside is that they have very low magic defense and 3 swordsman can basically take out a Viking in 1 turn. At level 100, a Viking can be upgraded to a Northern Viking which turns it into a Grade C mercenary and gives it the new Ice Ridge skill, an improved version of the Freezing Axe skill.

Description:
The Witch is one of the most powerful mercenaries in the game but also one of the slowest. Meteor Strike can easily deal 2000 to all enemies. The damage is even higher if you get charms and high level weapons that boost skill levels. The problem is it takes 4 turns to prepare. Mana Drain is a useful strategy for skill denial builds. A high level Mana Drain can turn the MP of 3 units into 0 in about 3 shots. The Witch is also the only flying mercenary making it only stunnable from range units.
